The Rio Negro Valley, in Argentine Patagonia is a natural Paradise with regards to the vine growing. Situated in the northern part of Patagonia, Rio Negro is the fourth region of importance within the winemaking regions of Argentina. It has 2544 hectares of planted vineyards. Its climate is dry, with hot days and cool nights during the summer season.
Margen Sur is located at 39.2° Latitude South, in the Argentine Patagonia, in the upper part of the Rio Negro Valley. The climate is special: alternating very cold nights with days of extremely intense sun, and a huge temperature range which intensifies during the twenty days prior to the harvest time rendering the vines a unique characteristic.
The vines are at just 250 ms over the sea level, and the greatest risk they take is constituted by the frosts.
The natural terroir offers and ideal environment for varieties such as merlot, pinot noir and malbec within the red wines. And within the white ones, the sauvignon stresses out.
