Immense and mysterious, Patagonia is one of the most amazing regions of Argentina, well known by its legends. It is the owner of unique and incomparable landscapes that magically combine plateaux, snowed mountains, mighty rivers, strong winds, steppes, and sea.

The winery was established in 1962 after buying 50 hectares of an old vineyard that sheltered a small winery with a production capacity of 620.000 liters.
Facing both good and not very good times, the actual winery´s production capacity is of 8 million liters, which result from 15 thousand vineyards planted out the modern way.
After almost 50 years, quality and technological innovation are still the winery´s most important values. We produce Patagonian wines such as: Ugni Blanc-Rieslina, Syrah-Bonarda, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir-Malbec, Pinot Noir, Pinot Grigio, Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Our wines are produce from our own vineyards which cover 198 cultivated hectares.

The winery has the most modern technology when it comes to press processing and destemming, as well as hydraulic presses, and a 300.000 B.T.U.s refrigerating room that controls the winemaking process.

Margen Sur produces Patagonian wines with well defined tones, perfect to go with special moments.

Located in the great valley that welcomes you to Patagonia Argentina, Margen Sur, in the locality of Ingeniero Luis A. Huergo, in Río Negro offers the greatest conditions for vine growing. Its stony soil irrigated by melted waters, in combination with a huge temperature range, strong winds, and too little humidity, makes of this place a one in a kind.

The huge temperature range permits the grape to ripen slowly helping the accumulation of sugar, acids and flavors. During ripening time, the temperatures usually fall from 83°F during the day to 42°F at night. Seasons are well marked: a soft spring gives rise to an extremely hot summer, and a mild autum gives way to a cold and dry winter.

With our wines we endeavour to identify the development and characteristics of the vine, and honor all those who search a dream; all those who think of Margen Sur as a metaphor of hope.
